Mike Huckabee declared August 1st to be Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, a day for Chick-fil-A supporters to patronize the chain in the wake of outrage over Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy's comments on marriage. Media sources reported on crowds and pro-LGBTQ demonstrators at Chick-fil-A across the nation. This morning, Fox interviewed Mike Huckabee about Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, with Chick-fil-A sandwiches positioned prominently on the Fox coffee table.
The Advocate shared this Third Rail Media video of anti-LGBTQ patrons outside a Hollywood Chick-fil-A, including singer Pat Boone. Hair-raising, to say the least.

This has been very disheartening to me. It isn't about the sanctity of marriage. It is about homophobia. God and religion is the smokescreen designed to hide the real issue.
ReplyDeleteDoug -- You're absolutely right. I can't believe that so many people equate being Christlike with discriminating against LGBTQ people and eating fried chicken.
DeleteI just love the right wing and their silliness.
ReplyDeleteSherry -- It was the height of silliness. When did Jesus preach about homophobia and chicken?
DeleteLoved it when Nancy Pelosi said she was a KFC fan.
ReplyDeleteDonna -- I've gotta find that!
DeleteSince I have never even SEEN one of those chicken places I discovered I was pronouncing it wrong. If I ever see one I'll just go in and dirty up their bathroom.
ReplyDeleteJono -- That's the spirit!
DeleteOut of curiosity, how were you pronouncing Chick-fil-A?
With a short "a". I didn't get it and never thought about it. It's like the name "Lee-a". As the mother said, "the dash don't be silent" as in "lee dash a" (short a). I guess I don't get out much.
DeleteIt's sad to see Christians come out in droves to support bigotry and discrimination. I've never seen them do so in support of helping the poor or feeding the hungry--you know, things Jesus actually told them to do.
ReplyDeleteBuffy -- If they'd devote half as much passion to those causes as they do to anti-LGBTQ sentiment, the world would be better for it.
