I really enjoyed the Mother Jones piece. And of course that young girl who takes on Schlafly is a serious force to be reckoned with. Her maturity and self-possession blow my mind. I have a lot of hope in our youth.
ReplyDeleteAgi Tater -- I have hope for them too. Kudos to that girl for being Schlafly's moral superior.
DeleteOK, I just read the Salon piece. It may be a while before I can use my crock pot.
ReplyDeleteDonna -- Or the microwave. Where do abstinence-only people come up with these analogies?
DeleteI'm going to eat an orange just to spite these people.
I am currently eating an apple (just like Adam did!). Here's another fascinating link to the business of religion. Our friends the Mormons (LSDers to me).

Jono -- Munch that forbidden fruit! Thanks for the link -- I'm stunned that the LDS and a dating site are wrangling over use of the term "Mormon".
DeleteI read the Salon one too. I have no words. Its just pathetic.
ReplyDeleteAnd Ahab- if your'e on Pinterest there is a group pin board called Freedom for (and from) Idolatry- its a pretty good board. =)
Heather -- That Salon commentary was hair-raising. I'm appalled that some abstinence-only proponents are teaching this stuff to young people.
