It is unbelievable what some people will tolerate and actually do in the name of their religion. I don't think it has changed much no matter the deities involved and no matter how many thousands of years pass.
ReplyDeleteJono -- It amazes me, the evil that people will perpetrate, tolerate, or endure when they believe that God condones it.
DeleteAhab,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the heads up on the Colorado initiative to ban conversion therapy for minors. The conservative local news hasn't carried about it that I've seen.
Paul
Paul -- Any attempt to ban conversion therapy for minors deserves attention. It's dangerous quackery.

ReplyDelete"POPE QUIETLY TRIMS SANCTIONS FOR SEX ABUSERS SEEKING MERCY" Mercy for child molesers but not for women and girls who have had pregnancies forced on them or who want to prevent pregnancies. The RCC is truly a manly man's kind of church!
Shaw -- The Catholic Church's double standard is infuriating. Child abusers get a slap on the wrist, while people trying to make the best decisions for their lives are showered with wrath.

ReplyDeletePerhaps for some definitions thereof -- and I know what you mean. In my view, real men recognize women's self-determination and do not sexually assault children.
Infidel -- If the scandals and antediluvian attitudes are any indication, there's little healthy masculinity to be found among the Catholic clergy.
