Religion Dispatches: Failing at Politics, Bishops Turn to Prayer

  1. From the Religion Dispatches link: "The pastoral part of the new campaign calls for a lot of individual and congregational prayer, including the kinds of prayers at masses that angered many Catholics this year."

When I saw the headline "Bishops turn to prayer", I thought it was good news since prayer has no effect. But if they can manage to give it the effect of alienating their own flocks further, that's even better.

    1. Infidel753 -- Don't worry. I see plenty of Catholics continuing to vote with their feet if the church doesn't evolve and the bishops continue to alienate the laity.

  2. Gail Collins' editorial is hilarious, also spot on.

  3. The whole UN disability debacle troubles me greatly. I agree that Collins' article was great. What I can't figure out is why is anyone listening to Santorum still? I had hoped that we all agreed he's nuts...including the Repubs who eventually walked away from his crazy...guess I was wrong...

    1. ReasonBeing -- Sadly, there's still a far-right subculture that takes people like Santorum seriously.
