Betty Bowers on the "Christian Nation" Myth

I'd like to wish my readers a safe and happy July 4th. While we're celebrating our nation's history today, let's remember the principles on which the country was founded (and wasn't founded). Betty Bowers has another hilarious, hard-hitting video on the myth of America as a "Christian nation".

    1. Donna -- I had to look up what a Butterick pattern was, and then I got the joke. :)

  2. Great vid! Although, I would have to say that the Washington quote was taken out of context of his life. Based on what I have seen from him, he was definitely Christian, as much as anyone is. He was just honest enough to admit that religion is not as righteous as it should be, and instead is the cause of much bloodshed.

    1. Wise Fool -- Sometimes atheists and skeptics take quotes from the Founders out of context, which makes me cringe. (The film Religulous did this, for example.) However, the Religious Right does it much more egregiously, ignoring the fact that the Founders' views on religion were very complex.
