ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure I agree with "tip of the spear" being coded Christian language, but that bit about Dred Scott was particularly interesting.
Wise Fool -- I've heard the Dred Scott reference a few times from right-wing speakers, but the Salon article gave it some clarification.
ReplyDeleteThat Stacy (NOM's hero) is a real piece of work. She thinks gay people shouldn't be allowed in "her" community. She's no better than any of the white bigots who whined because black people started moving into "their" neighborhoods decades ago and sharing "their" facilities.

Buffy -- What gives me hope is that more and more people are seeing homophobia for what it is: bigotry, on par with racism, anti-Semitism, and other forms of intolerance.
